Dry kibble was, long time ago, told to be cause of health problems. for more than 20 years, progress of cat nutrition have proved that now-a-days dry food is no more a problem and is good for cats. It can be dangerous only if the cat has no water !
Some times there has been food problems with some brants. but this doesn't apply only to dry food : can food can also be concerned by errors in the industrial process.
Low-cost dry food is less good quality than other : not unexpected. And composition makes the cat prefer it and eat much more. This is not a problem specific to dry food but relative to bad quality
If you use natural food, some raw meat will give your cat the Taurine he needs. Taurine is also present in dry food and cans. It's probably the main difference with dry food and cans for dogs. When your cat eats only the food of the dog, taurine will be missing and you'll have to give him raw meat. If your dog eats only the cat food, the excess in Taurine can causes scratches.
Comparing the food of desert cat with the food of house cat is like comparing your food with the bushmen one : I don't think you could remain in good health with this.
